Antiferromagnetic Spintronics
Antiferromagnet (AFM) attracts more and more attention recently because of the interesting properties, such as the robust against the magnetic field, no net moment, high processing frequency
We explore the pure spin current flow in antiferromagnts using sun-Terahertz spin pumping and spin Seebeck effect.Uniaxial AFM has two eigen-states of a uniaxial, that is, left and right-handed spin precession or magnon modes, which carrys the opposite angular momentum. If one can selectively drive only one of the magnon mode into resonance, the flow of angular momentum is pumped out of AFM, which is detected by the connected heavy metal via inver spin Hall effect.
We utilize 0.24THz solicd state continuous microwave source to inject spin current in the bulk of antiferromagntic Cr2O3, cooperating with Dr. Mark Sherwin in the Institute of Terahertz Science and Technology (ITST) at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Very clear electrical signals are observed exactly at the resonance feilds determined by the electron magnetic resonance signal.
